Hi All,
I would like to reflect on this semesters work and give a summary of the events to come next semester. This semester we started with the goal to make the ACM a more prominent organization on campus and in the Computer Science Department. We have hosted our own organizations lectures on Subversion and Access Grid. These presentations I feel were worthwhile and educational. The ACM has also been the head of other campaigns on campus such as: a Department Logo contest, Programming team, lecture recruiting, MESDA and A Cyber Security Team. These are all in development and I am sure that these events will take the UMaine Computer Science Department by storm next semester.
Looking into the future I foresee the ACM finishing tackling the above projects however, the notion of developing an XBOX 360 game is on the horizon. With the release of the XNA environment this idea is very feasible. Also having discussed this with only a few members and even some non-ACM Computer Science Students this idea seems to be gaining popularity momentum. I also believe that this will attract more members to our organization and provide a project that will enable to showoff the talents we learn in Computer Science. For a relative list of events that we have planned, there is a wiki page with current events planned and/or confirmed.
In closing I would like to say that right now its a very exciting time to be in Computer Science at UMaine. I feel that I am privileged to be learning and working with very talented Students and Faculty. I also hope that more CS Students will join the ACM next semester and partake in events that we have planned.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday break! We will see you all for round two next semester!
Hi all,
There will be a meeting today at 4:30 in the CS Lounge unless otherwise noted. This meeting will be used to tie off unfinished business before the winter break.
Unfortunately I will not be there until ~5:00 because of a finals review session.
