Server Updated

The ACM server has been updated this weekend. We are now running Debian Lenny since it has better support for newer software versions. It was tough going, but everything should be back to normal now. If anyone finds any problems, please email Joseph Bane on First Class. Cheers!

Computer Sales and Concurrent Versioning Systems

The ACM will be having its next meeting this upcoming Monday (October 20) at 4:30pm in room 204 Neville. The most significant portion of the meeting will be making plans for the upcoming antique computer sales event. The meeting will kick off with a brief overview of Subversion by Mark Royer, and we’ll quickly move on to other items in the agenda. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Next Meeting

Movie night was a blast. Thanks for everyone who came.

Our next meeting will be today, Monday Oct. 6, 2008 at 4:30 PM in our usual location, 204 Neville Hall.

ACM Movie Night

I know this is kind of late notice, but we decided at the last meeting to have a hackers inspired movie night tomorrow in the multipurpose room of the Memorial Union. We’ll be showing at least Hackers and one other film. Time TBA.

Meeting Results

New officers were elected at todays meeting. We’ll be updating the members page shortly.

Our next meeting will be at the same time, 4:30 PM, on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008. Place TBA.

There is also an up-coming event in the works – a BBQ on Ayers Island. More about this will be posted shortly.

Meeting Monday, September 22

The ACM will be having its next meeting this upcoming Monday (September 22) at 4:30pm in room 204 Neville. We will be taking nominations for vacated executive seats, and we will be making plans for the first ACM event of the semester. Most likely, we will be taking pictures. You have been warned!

Forums

The forums are now up – see the navigation links on the top of the main page. Thanks to Adam mainly and Joe for debugging. Also, I installed a new theme. Enjoy!

TechME

For all interested (anyone is welcome to come), there will be a meeting with TechME (formerly MESDA) tomorrow, September 17, at 4 PM in Neville Hall in the second floor CS lounge near Ellen’s office.

See http://www.mesda.com/ for more information about the group. Hope to see you there!

Meeting Results

We had a nice showing at tonights meeting and managed to work out some decisions about the group. Our next meeting is going to be this Monday, September 22nd, at 4:30 PM. We are going to setup wiki and wordpress accounts for all members who were at tonights meeting shortly, though we can add more if anyone wants to let us know – there is a ACM conference on UMaine First Class that anyone can post questions to. Adam is looking into our requirements to report back to the ACM headquarters and we’re also working out some plans for our first event of the semester. We’ll most likely have a discussion about this at the next meeting.

Next Week’s Meeting

Our next official meeting is this Tuesday – September 16, 2008 @ 5:00 PM. The meeting place is Room 204 Neville.

1st Meeting of the Fall 2008 Semester!

We had a very good turnout for the first meeting of the semester, given that two of the biggest classes (cos140 and cos431) were in session while we had our meeting on Friday, September 12, 2008 @ 11 AM. There were about 10 students who attended and we all introduced ourselves and told about our interests. This looks like it’s going to be a great semester for the ACM!

Updated UMaine ACM Website

Hi Everyone!

I hope that everyone had a great summer, and I hope everyone is looking forward to a fun and rewarding school year.

Thanks to Joe Bane’s help, we have reinvigorated the ACM website this fall. We will be using this site as the main location for disseminating information, and we will use the wiki (located at acm.umcs.maine.edu/wiki) for additional detailed information about projects and resources.

If you would like to have access to this site and/or the wiki, please come to the next ACM meeting.

If you don’t see what you are looking for here, you can still find older information about the ACM at www.umaine.edu/acm.
